2026 hunger Action Month Schedule

Hunger Action Month is a time for our community to come together and take action against hunger. Throughout September, there will be a variety of opportunities to get involved, raise awareness, and support local families facing food insecurity.

From volunteer projects and food drives to community events, educational workshops, and advocacy activities, there is something for everyone to participate in. Whether you’re an individual, family, business, school, faith-based organization, or community group, your involvement can make a meaningful difference.

Join us as we work together to fight hunger, support our neighbors, and strengthen our community. 

kICK OFF Press Conference

Attending this event is a great way to kick off Hunger Action Month and learn how you can make a meaningful impact in our community. Hunger Action Month is a nationwide campaign dedicated to raising awareness about food insecurity and encouraging people to take action in support of neighbors facing hunger.

At this event, you’ll receive the Hunger Action Month toolkit, which provides helpful resources, ideas, and materials to guide your involvement throughout the month. With these tools, you’ll be able to participate in a variety of community events, volunteer opportunities, and awareness activities that help shine a light on hunger in Kern County and beyond.

The CAPK Food Bank offers yard signs and hats you can purchase to help support our mission of ending hunger in Kern County. By buying these items, you’re not only showing your support for the cause but also helping us provide food to families in need. Display a vibrant yard sign or wear your hat proudly to help spread the word in our community. Every purchase makes a difference and helps us continue the fight against hunger, one meal at a time.

CAPK Hunger Action Month Box Building Day

Help us fight hunger in Kern County by volunteering at our Community Box Building Day. This hands-on event brings together neighbors, families, and local organizations to pack food boxes for seniors and families in need. Whether you’re a first-time volunteer or a seasoned supporter, your time and energy make a real difference.

Address: 1807 Feliz Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93301.

📅 Date: Saturday,  September 19, 2026
⏰ Time: 8:00am to 11:00am or 1:00pm to 4:00pm

FEED THE NEED

Join us on September 23rd from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Kern County Fair for Feed the Need, a community food drive dedicated to supporting local families facing food insecurity.

As part of this special event, guests who donate six canned food items will receive free admission to the fair. It’s a simple way to give back while enjoying one of Kern County’s most beloved traditions.

All donations will benefit the CAPK Food Bank and help provide nutritious meals to individuals and families across our community. Come out, enjoy the fair, and help us make a meaningful impact, one can at a time.
